Meet Dan Ruhland, our first DAFAB sponsored rider!
Dan is 16 years of age and resides on his parent’s cattle farm at Mt Walker Queensland Australia. Dan has been riding since the age of 8 and has fallen in love with the sport like most other young cowboys. And now competes every weekend in sometimes up to 3 separate event Bull rides alongside his great group mates.
He didn’t have to go far for inspiration with his Father Rick active in the sport from when he was 12 until the age of 30 with Steer titles, N.R.A Rookie of the year and a runner-up in the A.P.R.A instilling the respect of his son. Dans Grandfather Darryl was also three event cowboy and competed on the circuit in bull riding, saddle bronc but excelling at bareback broncs.
This was a little tough for Dan, his Dad was on top of this list but when some of the best bull riders in the world come to stay at your farm while they are competing on the Australian circuit picking one was hard but Rohan Markham and Troy Wilkinson, both Australians. Are guys he really respects, but Dan has also been lucky enough to rub shoulders with J.W Harris, Zane Lambert and Francisco Morales to name a few.
- 2010 wild side champion
- 2013 Poddy ride champion
- 2016 Average finals under 16 champion
- Dan is also a top twelve Qualifier competing for the DAFAB sponsored 2017 NRA under 18 championships and has just started an apprenticeship as a boilermaker.
